TACOMA
Documenting historic sites significant to Black History in Washington State, sponsored by National Park Service (NPS) and the City of Tacoma Historic Preservation Department, & the Washington State Department of Archaeology and Historic Preservation
Our statewide project, begun in 2021, is continuing in 2023 with a Special focus on Black Historic Sites in Tacoma Washington .
Our goal in Tacoma to conduct research and public outreach in order to achieve the following:
1. Write a context statement on the African American History of Tacoma
2. Identify sites related to Black History in the City of Tacoma
3. Add Tacoma sites to the National Register of Historic Places
