Dr. Martin Luther King (MLK) Jr. Community Center

This building and the neighborhood are associated with the African American history adding to its significance. It is located in the city’s east central neighborhood where most of the African Americans moved in Spokane. After the introduction of the racist housing laws in the mid-20th century, it made it extremely difficult for the Black community to own or rent a home.

Today, Martin Luther King Jr. Family Outreach Center is a social service center for the regional community providing education, social services and cultural enrichment programs for children and families.
